Twins

Hmmmm....

On the right: Bride-to-be at her engagement party. Cute dress.

On the left: Mother-of-the-Bride-to-be at her daughter's engagement party. Probably insane.

On what planet is this considered normal human behavior? How did this woman think it was OK for her to essentially copy her daughter at her engagement party? How did the bride not object to this?

So many questions...

Dance me to the end of Love

Faithful reader Nina sent me a link to this blog today, where I found the following "elaborate proposal":

Now. I like modern dance, contemporary dance, almost any kind of dance. I also like a man with balls so gigantic, they don't preclude his choreography to one of the lamest songs ever written (and potentially one that doesn't have anything to do with anything). Ultimately, this proposal made me cry. But as I put myself in Claudine's shoes, I didn't know whether to think, "God, my boyfriend is SUCH an attention-whore -- is this my moment or his?" or "Wow. This is SO sweet ... look at how many people he got involved, just to show me he loves me."

I guess I would have to know Claudine's boyfriend to be able to judge whether this type of gesture is just par for the course, or so outside his comfort zone that it actually means something.

Thoughts? Love it or hate it? Imagine being proposed to in this way, and vote today.

Bride-to-be (not soon enough)

After months of tireless shopping, Julie had finally found her dream dress. It was pretty, too: high waist, satin sash, light ruffles in a full A-line skirt, simple but classic tube. She had done well, and she knew it. Fernando loved her fiercely and she knew that, too, but what if he broke up with her before the wedding? What if he called it all off at the very last minute because they couldn't decide on a piece of real estate they both liked, or because their parents didn't get along? She had already gone through one devastating breakup of that kind - the worst part was that last time, she'd never even gotten the chance to wear the gown she'd dropped a fortune on.

Well, fuck if she was gonna let that happen a second time: she'd just wear this puppy to her engagement party.
